Abby's Donation to Locks of Love

I have been talking to Abby for a few weeks about getting her hair cut for summer. We have to brush it several times a day and it's no fun for either one of us. So I started to talk to her about getting it cut and donating it. I showed her some pictures on the website and tried to explain the process but she just wasn't grasping it.

As the days get longer and hotter I kept bringing up the subject and she finally agreed to get it done. We went today and here are the pictures. We'll mail the hair out tomorrow and wait to hear back. I submitted some pictures and background to the local paper and she will be featured in the Community Awards section in a few weeks.

I am so proud of her, she has no idea the good she has done :)

A Night Under the Big Top

Abby had a Circus program with her PreK class at the beginning of the month. She did well but didn't song along with the other kids - but she'll sing her little heart out at home. She had a good time and looked so cute!

Lucas' Hot Cocoa Party

Today Lucas had a hot cocoa party at school. families were invited so Abby and I went along with Grammy and Grandma and Papa. We had cocoa and cookies, got to color and spent time in the classroom just having fun.

The kids sang a song - Lucas seemed to disappear by the end of the song, must not have felt like being seen:)

First Day of Preschool!

I was worried that today wouldn't go well but it wasn't as bad as I expected. Lucas got up but was still "so tired" so I let him sit on the couch with his waffle and a blanket. He got dressed and got his bag together and we were off.

He went right into the classroom and explored it all over again (we've been there twice this year already) and I'm sure he found a million things to touch.

Abby didn't want to leave and she cried the entire way home. Her and I baked some cookies and we'll leave to pick Lucas up in about an hour. I think she likes this time alone to be honest - my angel may be back, granted only from 8-10:30 Monday through Friday (LOL) but I'll take it.

I have so many digital kits at this point that I don't think I could possibly use them all. So that is my objective, to make at least one layout with each digital kit that I have. This is going to be a daunting task but once I am done it will be the greatest accomplishment:)

Lucas at his first Teeball practice

Lucas had his first practice for teeball tonight and he liked it!

When we first got there he wanted to go play on the playground with Abby and the other kids but we told him that he had to go find his coach and his team - we would play once practice was over.

He was the smallest kid on the team, which is no surprise :), but he fit right in. I took him out back this afternoon to practice using his mitt and tossing the ball and he had a blast so I hoped for the best tonight and was pleasently surprised. He said he'll go to another practice so that is a good sign!

Birthday Party

We had the kids birthday party yesterday and here are just a handful of the 350 that were taken - gotta love digital!

They had a good time although it was a long day until the party started. Lucas refused to nap, as I figured he might but Abby went down like clockwork. Then when she got up we got our "party" clothes on and waited for the first guests to arrive.

It wasn't long before there was a houseful of people and we were waiting for the big presents to come - Papa and Grandma with a truck for Lucas and a little motorbike for Abby. They saw them in the back of the truck as he pulled up. The hope was to have him put the toys behind the truck and then move it so they were really surprised but it was just as good the way it happened.

Then we went into the yard for awhile. It wasn't as nice out as I had hoped but the sun was shining and that was all I cared about - I DIDN'T want to get rained out:) Dinner was next, good old hot dogs! Then cake, two cakes, Lucas had chocolate and Abby had yellow with a raspberry filling - yummo!

Then it was finally present time. There was no order to it, they just ripped into bags - who cared if there was a princess on it, Lucas was going to go through it! They got a lot of great stuff - I have been itching to get them some new summer clothes but I was putting it off in hopes that they would get a decent amount (my Mom always goes crazy with the clothes - but she usually gives them the good toy gifts early and leaves the clothes for the party)

We played awhile more after that and someone, I am not giving any names - RAY - decided to let them play with water guns. Once that was said there was no going back. After the guns were filled four or five times it started to get really cold so we went in and talked some more.

The last guests left, the kids got into their jammies and it was off to la-la land.

There was one really annoying thing about it though - it's the time of the year for flying pollen here. I am not sure what it is from - poplar trees maybe? - but it is fuzzy white balls that look as if they are from a dandelion. At any rate they were blowing in the wind so much that Abby thought it was snowing outside. Now the annoying part is that I was wearing a black shirt so every time that I went outside I had to come back in and use the lint brush to remove the piles of pollen that had gathered.

Other than that it was a good day, a long and exhausting day but a good one. I think they had a blast...I still can't believe it - three and four already!! How the time does fly!

We went to our friends house over the weekend for dinner and a get together for the kids. They love to go out there to play and to just run around. They have a lot more running room or at least a longer distance of running room, lol.

A few pages I did for some page challenges...this one is a color challenge using red, blue and silver...the kids loved these little portable players. They are still around but I think they prefer to watch movies on the big screen now!

This one is for a font challenge. I had to use the moms typewriter font. I wanted to do a nice pregnancy page but I realized that I only had a handful of prego pics and I really don't like any of them, so this picture gets the point across without showing what I didn't like, LOL!!

Here are a few new pages. I haven't had a lot of time but these kits are so cute and by keeping the pages simple they almost could make themselves!

As for news there really isn't any, lol. the kids are good, itching to get outside and play. We have gone out for the past few dys but the weather is a bit chilly today and my yard is like a mudpit so we'll stay in for now.

There is a park around the corner that was renovated this winter with new swings, junglegyms and climbing areas. Ray took Lucas on Sunday but again it's so muddy that there isn't much fun to be had. Hopefully it will dry up over the next few days and we can take a walk down...it will be nice over the summer to take a little picnic lunch and just hang out.

Here are a few new pages that I've done. I have started to enter some challenges at various sites, learning more...perhaps soon I can create for myself...I hate having to keep credit and write everything down, lol. I keep telling people that it is too much like work:)

This one is of a trip to Darien Lake that we took a few sumemrs back. Dylan looks so young!

This one I did for a challenge where the objective is to use a color pallette of 3 out of 6 possible. It was all greens and purples (one of my favorite color combos, I think it's because I love lilacs so much!) so it wasn't hard to choose my colors! I like the way that it turned out.

This one was also for a challenge. This was about nuetral with a pop of color, at least 25%. I was thinking because there was so much black and white that it fell into the category.

This one is a new favorite. I initially got the kit to do some pages of Ray and the kids playing at the computer but I did one of myself instead. I spend a lot of time at my computer but I do a lot of things with it - I pay the bills, I buy household goods, I am active in my online communities and most importantly I use my imagination to capture memories...well maybe not most important but without this outlet I think I would be a looney bin somewhere.

This one is a creative team layout. I have used several of her kits and I love every new one that she releases. The kit will be available on Monday...I'll post that link when it's ready:) I love this dress of Abby's for Easter. She just looked so sweet in the pleasts and her chubby little face and legs.

Okay off to watch this weeks LOST...I am behind - too much scrapping!

I got to play around a bit this morning while the kids were eating breakfast - like they eat, two bites and then it must be "run around the table time", at least for my kids - and then some more at lunch (same scenario as breakfast) only this time a little more eating as they are starving from not eating breakfast! I am getting quick, especially easy when using templates, all the sizing and placement is done!

Day at the Spa

For Valentine's Day Ray got me a day at the spa package which included a facial, an hour massage, a pedicure, a manicure and finally a cut and color. I was there ALL day but left feeling refreshed. I enjoyed the facial the most and the girl that did was amazing. I think I will most definitely go back for upkeep:)
Tonight we are going out to dinner with a group of our closest friends. We have been doing this for several years now and it's always a blast. I can't wait to see them as we don't get together very often, at least not in the wintertime:)

Project 365 Week5

Here is the layout for week 5. I had a hard time with this week but I got into the zone and pushed it out. I have found that the pictures are a little mundane although that is not quite unlike my life currently. I am home all day most days and take care of the little things that just magically get done (right?) so my pictures are reflecting that. Once the weather turns I am hoping that I'll get some better shots, a little more inspiration is needed!

Today was my sisters 18th birthday. We surprised her with cake and presents this afternoon and here are the pictures to prove it. It has been snowing horribly for the last few days so we didn't stay long but it was nice to spend time with her!

Here is my layout for week . I have found that it isn't hard getting them done - the hardest part is picking which pictures to use. I also found that by doing the entire two page layout in advance it's very easy to add the photos and journaling and VOILA! you are done:)

My poor babies are so sick! Abby is just getting into hers but little Lucas is absolutely awful. He hasn't eaten in 2 days and can barely keep water down. We were at the doctor's toady and he said there is a vicious bug going around however he needs to be monitored for hydration. If he isn'tbetter by Thursday then there may be more drastic measures taken...I am praying that he snaps out of it.

My life has basically been vomit, lysol, vomit laundry, runny diapers and more vomit...I think I need a vacation!

So I have decided to start over with the project. I have a really cool kit that will help make the pages look more uniform and once the year is over I plan on having the pages made into a hard cover book. Here is a picture of Ray and I at a friends party last night. We went without the children but all of our friends have kids and they were there so we felt a little out of place, lol. It is always a good time and we enjoyed ourselves but were happy to get home to see the kids.

I also took my first picture for my 365project. This weeks theme is "favorite things". I will post a layout every week so make sure to stop back!

365 Project

So I read about this 365 Project...I have heard it being used as a photography challenge but this is right up my alley! I think it will be really cool and will make a great book in the long run. I read through some of the ideas and I am so excited and am already making a list of which I want to do first. It will take a long time...about a year:)
Think you could take on a project like this? Maybe we can share our end results!

Here are a few new pages. I am really getting into learning how to use photosop as my mainscrapbooking program but that is not an easy program to just "pick up". Slowly but surely I am making progress - I think I learn something new everyday. I have a book but that is just too hard so I prefer to use tutorials which make it much easier...how does anyone follow along in those stupid books?!?!

This is the dinosaur that Lucas got for Christmas...it is huge and loud! It's so cool tho cuz it picks things up and roars and lights up. When he was unwrapping it he got scared and refused to finish unwrapping it! We finally got him to open it and Daddy put it together. Then it took a few hours for the batteries to charge but once it was all done this is what we got!

OK so there was another storm that passed by last night and we are expecting more today. Here are a few shots of my front porch - it was so windy that it covered the front door which rarely ever gets snow on it. The backyard is just one big pile of snow...too bad the temperatures are so frigid - that means no playing in the snow today!

It snowed for most of the day today so there is a nice white blanket of snow on the ground right now. It rained for a few days straight and melted most of it. It is nice to have a bit of snow, makes it feel more like Christmastime!

We did some shopping today and stopped at LJS for lunch. I LOVE the malt vinegar and we don't get to that side of town very often. The kids were asleep in the car but they enjoyed the hats that I picked up for them. Lucas refused to get his picture taken in his hat hence it is only Daddy and Abby. But I couldn't leave him out so there is a picture of him being silly.
